20% Time Speech
In the beginning of the year, I was
confused about this project, mainly how it would last the whole year. Now, I
was surprised by many things I learned throughout this project. I accomplished
my goal of designing phone cases and learning many new things; I also enjoyed
the process. My main accomplishments were making 11 phone cases and keeping my
blog updated with the process. Through this project, I learned that it is
harder for me to work if I am not being graded. Some more things I learned were
how to blog, more things about my work ethic, how to decorate cases many
different ways, and tons of other smaller things. These all lead up to my
overall goal. I also had difficulties along the way. Some of the difficulties
included wanted to change my project topic, not using my time wisely, having
trouble working hard or on task, or never finding the time to get supplies for
my project. Towards the end of the year, I got bored with my idea, and I wanted
to try something different. This made me a lot less motivated to work. Another
difficulty I encountered was never remembering to get supplies, and this set me
back. Doing a project over the whole year had many positives and a few
negatives. Besides the negatives, I had a fun time with it. If I continue with
this project, I hope to eventually learn how to sell cases online. But, my goal
was to learn different ways to design cases, and I did accomplish that. I
learned many useful things I did not know before. This project also helped me
improve my creativity. I have learned a ton of new things, and hopefully I can
do this again sometime in the future!

Things I've Learned About Myself
Through this project I have learned many things about my self. I learned that I have trouble making a decision because I kept having second thoughts about every idea I made. I also learned that I can slack off a lot because I have saved many things for the last minute. :l

Progress
The past few weeks I started decorating the cases! I started the mod-podge glitter one. It looks great. It does take a while to get the glitter to look good though... I will take pictures and post them later!

Ideas
Here are some links of ideas I have to do to the phone cases! I will have to eventually narrow it down, or I could just get more cases!

Project Proposal
20% Time
Project Proposal
Name: Mary Dixon Wigginton
Project Title: Phone Cases 101
Project Start Date: November 7th,
2014
Project Completion Date: May 15th,
2015
Mentor’s Name: Mrs. Browning, Shannon
Wigginton, John Wigginton
Brief Description: I will design phone
cases to help me with my creativity for my 20% time.
Overview of Project Proposal
1)
Project Objective:
For my 20% time I will try to improve on my
creativity. I am not the most creative person, so I think doing this will help.
I will have to be creative to make the phone cases look awesome and crafty!
Also, I am
going to try to improve on my artistic abilities. To make the phone cases look
neat I will have to be artistic and creative. Working on crafts 20% of my time
in language, I think will help my artistic abilities.
Lastly, if I get to this point in my project, I will
try to sell the cases I make. It will be hard for me to get to this point
because I would have to make a case nice enough to sell, and I would have to
make an account or find a way to sell it. Selling these cases, though, will
help me with many skills like marketing and managing money. I will also gain
some of those skills from buying cases to decorate. Anyways, I don’t know if I
will get to this point in the project.
2)
Project Rationale:
I hope to gain many things from this activity. Things
like: creativity, artistic ability, persistence, marketing, and other things
too. I am doing this project because this is something that I think will be
really fun, and it goes with my interest.

May
2015
During
this last month, I’m not positively sure what I will do yet because I might try to sell them. But
I will reflect on what I have done this year with 20% time, and tell others
about it.
5) Available Human and Material
Resources:

6) Possible Road Blocks:
-
The cases could
break and not be sturdy enough
-
I might not have enough
time to finish all of them
-
Ill mess up on
the design and ruin the case
-
Not being able to
make a good blog post every week
-
Not knowing how
to upload pictures
7) Research Questions:

How will this
help my future?
-
How will this
help my artistic ability?
-
